don’t create problems that may never become a realit
spend your brain power + energy on what’s actually relevant and real
ok this what's on my mind rn. i was just listening to one of jay shetty’s podcasts and the topic was all about intentionality in the mornings — especially the first hour that you are awake. he was talking about how impressionable the mind is at this time and what practical ways you can be in control about setting your system (body+mind) up for how you want it to work, or in a way that serves you! like have positive thoughts, prioritizing tasks that are actually important, not being dragged down by what happened to you @ work yesterday, etc. etc…
i know that it is not great//there’s a lot of research backing y you should not answer emails, get on your phone and scroll, and so forth, first thing in the morning. i feel like it’s understandable that this will bombard your brain before it is even given a minute to form thoughts + think creatively or even remember your dream from the night before lol. before any of this, we are programming it to tend to work related tasks, conversations with parents/siblings, dentist appts, etc.
jay continued to talk about how the frequency that our brains are @ first thing in the morning is comparable to the frequency they are in hypnotic therapy — showing that the brain is most suggestible (receptive to suggestions), and has heightened neuroplasticity (reprogrammable + the best time to set neural patterns for the rest of the day)
this was all super interesting to me!! in the podcast, jay specifically talked about like 7 or 10 practical ways that you can control your day through the morning. you can prioritize intentions and tasks that are important, get out of negative self talk patterns, and program your brain and body to be in alignment with what will help you along your day and not hurt you. it’s a gr8 podcast to listen to.
but his words specifically stood out to me in a portion where he was kinda explaining that we can really set ourselves up for failure with false scenarios and problems. let’s remember that our brain is open to suggestions and that we are in control of our day + brain, so he highlighted that many of us create problems that #1 aren’t a reality and #2 literally may NEVER be a reality. this could be problems, stressful scenario — this something i struggle w
i thought this was something that is really helpful to remember because in situations sometimes it can be so easy to make up false problems/possibilities. our brains literally come up with a million scenarios that can stress us out for no reason if we give it the power. or on an even smaller level, they just take the place of thoughts that are actually important. and actually relevant.. like thoughts that can ACTUALLY apply to my current reality (whatever that may b)!
so i am now trying to be intentional about this. why would u want to create work problems, friendship conflicts, financial issues that may(or may NOT!) occur in the future? it just wasted space in your brain.
focus on what is real and happening in your life right now 🧘🏽♀️🧘🏽♀️ focus on being present because false scenarios steal the time + space in your brain and take your thoughts away from what is real + could actually b helpful :))
